Ollama lists these download sizes for qwen2.5-coder (checked 2026-10-04): 3b 1.9 GB, 7b 4.7 GB, 14b 9.0 GB, 32b 20 GB.
The page makes a performance claim only for the 7B and 32B sizes. It says the 7B model "has already shown impressive performance in code reasoning". So 7b is the smallest size with a claim behind it for coding. That is Qwen's own claim, not a test on a 16 GB Mac. The pages don't report speed or memory use, so whether 7b runs well on your machine is untested here. Try ollama run qwen2.5-coder:7b and judge the answers and the speed yourself.

Checked on 2026-10-04 against ollama.com/library/qwen2.5-coder/tags (download sizes) and ollama.com/library/qwen2.5-coder (Qwen's 7B and 32B descriptions). Neither page reports speed or memory use, so no claim about a 16 GB Mac is made.
