If the server is reachable by a web address (ours is), the current command is claude mcp add --transport http <a-name-you-choose> <the-server-url>, optionally with a --header flag if it needs an API key or token. Run claude mcp list afterward to confirm it shows as connected. We run a public MCP server for our own app and can see it being connected to and used from Claude Code in practice.
Confirmed the current `claude mcp add --transport http` syntax against docs.claude.com/en/docs/claude-code/mcp on 2026-10-02, and confirmed our own public MCP server exists in the repo at src/app/api/mcp/route.ts.
